 Prof. Muhammad Akhyar is appointed Second Vice Principal of Edwardes College, Principal Dr. Titus Presler announced on 16 January 2012. Prof. Akhyar has served the College since 1978, most recently as Director of Studies and Head of the Physics Department.
Prof. Akhyar succeeds Prof. Kalim Ullah, who became First Vice Principal on 1 January 2012 following the retirement of Prof. Naseem Haider. He will serve until his retirement date of 23 June 2012. As 2nd Vice Principal, Prof. Akhyar is third-in-command of the College and is in charge when the Principal and Vice Principal are absent. He serves on the Management Team and attends meetings of the Executive Committee and Board of Governors, which will be requested to endorse the appointment at their next meetings. The appointment followed an interview with Prof. Akhyar on 13 January 2012, in which Vice Principal Kalim and Executive Committee Chair Bishop Humphrey Sarfaraz Peters participated in an advisory capacity. Prof. Akhyar earned the FSc in 1971 and the BSc in 1973 from Government Post-Graduate College in Charsadda, and he earned that institution's MSc in Physics in 1975. He began teaching Physics at Edwardes in 1978 and became Head of Department in 2002, a post he will continue to hold. He was Deputy Director of Studies in 2008 and was appointed Director in September of that year. Prof. Ijaz Ahmad, Assistant Professor of Urdu, has been appointed Acting Director of Studies. |
